Can confirm. If you just consume amanita it doesn't really do much. If you drink some strong tea of it and then drink your urine you will get a better idea of what the ancients were experiencing.

Note that modern humans are pretty unhealthy. You need to be extremely fit and clean to get to the true trance state where hallucinations become real.
